Wadee’a Mitry Shatara, who taught Arabic at the Friends Girls School for over 55 years. Born in 1890, she graduated from the Girls* Training Home (as the FGS was known) in 1905. She then attended Beirut Training College to become a teacher, and began teaching at the FGS upon graduation. She was the first woman from Ramallah to study in Beirut. She retired in 1964 and died later that year. She was greatly loved and respected by all her students.
From 1936-43 she was on the Palestine Broadcasting Station twice a week broadcasting the Children’s Corner. a popular program with children, often with many amusing Juha stories.
